FUNDAMENTALS

Our ‘Stay & Play’ classes start with a group warm up & stretch, led by our FUNdamentals coaches. During the main part of the session children are able to freely explore the whole gym alongside an adult and use all of our equipment freely. Our coaches are on site to oversee the activity before joining the group together at the end for a whole group cool down.

Our Structured classes start with a group warm up & stretch, followed by a set FUNdamentals starter activity which is introduced and changed weekly by our coaches. Some weeks we might be working on introducing the participants to basic gymnastics shapes, other weeks we might break down elements of popular gymnastics skills.

Next the gym is set up with lots of equipment, and our coaches will explain the idea behind each of the activities. Our FUNdamentals coaches will oversee all the activity, however it’s an opportunity for parents/guardians to lead their child around the gym and try to complete all of the stations together. Having adults involved with all aspects of the session allows the children to be supported, encouraged and assisted 1:1 with all elements of the class. Finally, we aim to complete each session with an end activity and cool down.

GENERAL GYMNASTICS

In each session, participants begin with a fun weekly warm up before following a circuit of activities to develop skills from our Little Springers Award Scheme, with lots of games and challenges along the way! Sessions conclude with a fun fitness activity or with demonstrations to celebrate new achievements.

Keeping the emphasis on fun and friendship

Our sessions have been designed to accommodate those just getting started, as well as those who have been attending regularly for longer periods of time, in the same session. At each station of activity, we aim to provide suitable challenges for both levels of experience, meaning friends of different gymnastics ability can participate together.

What kind of skills do you teach at Little Springers?

We teach core gymnastics skills such as Forward and Backward Rolls, Bridges, Headstands, Handstands, Cartwheels as well as work on the vault and other equipment, before teaching more advanced skills such as Aerial Cartwheels, Walkovers, Front and Back Handsprings and Somersaults.

What type of equipment do use?

Participants can enjoy using our bouncy tumble tracks, trampettes, foam vaults, blocks, wedges, mini apparatus and plenty of safety matting. Our facility in Syston includes a sprung gymnastics floor and a 12 metre long tumble track!

SPRING+

Our Spring Plus sessions are additional classes for those who want to do additional Springing! This is not a starting point, but an additional class for those who love our approach to gymnastics and are keen to do more. The classes include further gymnastics training, as well as performance and dance training.

Our Spring+ classes run on Sundays in Syston from 10.30-12.00pm. Classes are Term Time only and do not run on bank holiday weekends. Classes are for club members aged 7+. Anyone attending a Spring+ class must also attend their current class, as the additional classes are designed to be in conjunction with our one-hour classes and not instead of. Due to the nature of working towards a performance, those in our Spring+ team must be able to commit to attending sessions weekly.

Throughout the year we work towards display events, which includes British Gymnastics GymFusion events. GymFusion gives participants the opportunity to display their skills and talents as a team in a fun, friendly and non-competitive environment. GymFusion gives the team a chance to perform onstage in theatres in England!

Our Spring+ team is also given opportunities to perform at other gymnastics clubs and for our own club events.

Our Spring+ classes are £7.50 per week, with fees automatically being amended for members based upon the number of sessions within the month. There are additional costs in the run up to a performance which will include event entry, costumes, and travel.

If you would like any further information or to express an interest in your child joining Spring+ then please email hello@littlespringersgymnastics.com
